Passings…

Bro. John W. McGovern Jr. HLM passed away on January 24, 2007 at age 86. Our Council wasn’t notified until we heard of his passing from the Supreme Council in June. A Mass Card was sent to his survivor.

PGK Henry Crusse Jr. HLM passed away on June 15, 2007 at age 77 after a long illness. Members said a Rosary for PGK Henry’s repose and the Charles Carroll of Carrollton Assembly’s Color Guard participated at his viewing and Mass.

Bernard R. Kropfelder Sr., who transferred out of Notre  Dame Council in April 2003 after moving to Ocean Pines MD, passed away on June 12, 2007.

Council Widow Gertrude F. Kreiner, the wife of our late Bro. Louis E. Kreiner Sr., passed away on June 29, 2007.

Clara Margaret Butt, mother of Council Church and Youth Director Bro. John Butt Ph.D., passed away on June 12, 2007. Members gathered to say a Rosary for her.

The siblings of our late Bro. John Sullivan were involved in a tragic auto crash on I-95 on the way home from Myrtle Beach, SC. John’s brother Ray Sullivan was killed and the others were seriously injured. All were in their 80s or 90s.

Miss Amelia Popoli, sister of Council Widow Rose Ader, passed away on July 31, 2007.

Two former Notre Dame Council members passed away recently. Kevin Mooney transferred to St. Francis de Sales Council #3489 after moving to Salisbury several years ago. Kevin and his late wife Mary Louise were well known around Notre Dame Council and old Northwood…Vince Toomey was a star pitcher in the 1960s for Notre Dame Council’s championship softball team. (An eyewitness told us that Vince quit the Council in disgust in 1962 after right fielder Bro. [now PGK] Tony Genovese dropped a fly ball to allow in the winning run and cost our Council the championship.)

Council Year End Report...

It was a very sad and busy year for this department. During Council Year 2006-2007 we lost 15 members, 1 former member, 19 family members, and said a Rosary for a brother from another council.
